The Gardeners Diary 1980 is a one year online project based around a used diary from 1980 purchased from eBay. Over the course of one year, I will share daily posts on instagram relating to that day's entry, resulting in a double exposure; the collective reading of the anonymous writer's diary, and the narrative of the present day.

I approach this work as both an explorer and a researcher, unraveling the personal narrative hidden within the pages. My process will also involve a physical journey to Broadwindsor, a small village mentioned frequently in the diary, where I plan to conduct social history research and further investigate the diarist's life. Despite extensive research, I have yet to uncover the full identity of the original owner. As the project progresses, I hope to discover connections between their life and my own, drawing out the intersections between personal histories and collective memory.​
